I came across the Australia Home Cheese Making stall at Glenorie Growers’Market
and booked a workshop. John & Juan’s enthusiasm and passion for their farming
practices and cheese-making was inspiring.

Over the course of the day, we were led through the techniques of turning pasteurised milk into curds and whey, and eventually into our very own Camembert cheese. Much attention was paid to sterilisation methods and the precise timing of various stages required to
achieve an excellent result. Mid-way through, we enjoyed a fabulous vegetarian lunch, beautifully presented by John. The conversation flowed freely, everyone keen to pick up hints and ideas about ‘foodie’ stuff.

Finally, our Camembert ‘babies’ were ready to wrap and take home to finish the ripening and maturing processes. We gathered together again to enjoy a magnificent cheese platter and a glass of wine to celebrate a very satisfying and enjoyable day, our heads filled with plans of future cheese-making endeavours……… Vicki B.
